2015 Call for Scores:
New Works for Viola da Gamba (Viol) & Piano
ELIGIBILITY: Open to composers of any age, nationality, etc.
PRIZE: Selected works will be recorded by violist da gamba Andrew Arceci––featured on a CD devoted to new music for viola da gamba––and/or presented on concerts throughout the United States, Italy, and/or Thailand.
Additionally, each successful composer will be given 5 copies of the CD.
INFORMATION: Works should be original, unpublished, and composed for an acoustic 7-string viola da gamba (bass viol) and piano (modern piano; with 88-keys). Works should be 2-5 minutes in length, and submitted anonymously; rather than signing works by name, composers should list a telephone number with international code. Invitations/regrets will be sent via SMS (text), and shortlisted composers will be contacted to discuss their submissions.
ENTRY FEE: Non-refundable $20.00 USD cheque, bank transfer, or PayPal transfer (per score). If you would like your score(s) returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. However, for anonymity, scores should only include the telephone number with international code.
DEADLINE: Materials should be received by 1 October 2015; electronic submissions accepted, but applicants are encouraged to send materials to:
